i saw a post a few days ago where someone disagreed with the notion of saying “to each their own” regarding media and thought that, if you think something sucks, that you should stand by it and defend it with the fire of a thousands suns (heavily paraphrasing there) and i was like okay? it’s possible that you know you like something and someone doesn’t it’s not that big a deal so yeah to each their own. or vice versa. but this idea that everyone’s critiques need to be so strong one way or the other with no nuance is wild to me. a lot of critics nowadays feel like PRs or people with personal vendettas and neither are interesting.

it’s perfectly reasonable to say “i liked this, other people didn’t, and that’s okay!”

so many risk it alls, so little… i dunno, just a lot of hot people out there.

Your first brain looking at your second brain like “i just did that already!”

I love how they made Javier Bardem look like Om Puri in the film poster for No Country For Old Men.

I’m expected to feel bad for using air conditioning or even a fan all day when it’s 30°C outside but it’s perfectly reasonable for tech companies to build dozens of data centres for chatbots that get things wrong by design? And it’s fine when tech bros use the same amount of electricity that a country uses in a year for Bitcoin or whatever?

Just don’t point any of this out or you’ll get people bring it back to regular citizens who are the scum of the earth for their energy consumption which is allegedly worse. Could just be them trying to survive and get joy out of life but not that’s bad and Big Tech usage is vital.

They’ve got it backwards.

Would you still love me if I thought “blueberry” had three b’s in it?

are you free for a chat?
